WRITING SAMPLES
Here are some examples of my writing. I have skills within many different genres of writing. I write creatively, as well as academically.
During the summer of 2015, I studied abroad in Ireland. As a part of my course study, I had to create an experimental piece of writing that reflected the beauty of the country. When I think of Ireland, I think of a country that has its own personality. Whether I'm observing the culture of Ireland, or admiring its landscape, I feel a great sense of character. Because of this, I chose to personify different features of Ireland, as well as varying moments that I captured.
I wrote this piece for a Feminist Rhetorics course. I took a post-feminist perspective as I observed how breast cancer is overly-sexualized in the media. I argue that while war-rhetoric and sexualization is empowering for some women, it is also harmful for women who do not feel empowered after conquering breast cancer. In this piece, I reflect on the origins of pink ribbon media, and address whether or not the rhetoric surrounding breast cancer is for the better or the worst.
